I think they are called PJ's. I believe they are tasked with recuing downed pilots from behind enemy lines and have extensive infantry type training. I saw a TV show which said they were the USAF equivalent to Army SF. I'm an Army PSYOP vet, and I never met any. I asked my neighbor, a USAF SFC about them, but he's an Orion crew chief and has never heard of them. h**l, he didn't even know what PSYOP was either, though. Anyway, I'd like to hear from anyone who has done this job and what it entails.

  1. I used to know a few of them out of Pope. They jumped with us every once in awhile (7th Group), but they have a totally different mission than Special Forces. There is no comparison in the two. Good men though. Very attention to detail.

  2. PSYCHOPATHIC

  3. For a description of what the Pararescue mission, duties and training are, try read this link:  http://www.specialtactics.com/pjdescript...

While Pararescue is Special Operations in nature and much of the tactical training is the same, it is different from Army Special Forces in the mission. PJs do, however work with all sorts of SOF from Special Forces ODAs, SEAL teams, Rangers, Marine SOF to the AF's own Special Tactics teams.

Hopefully, this answered your question. If you'd like to know more or have more questions, check out the site I gave you or send me an e-mail.

  4. Here is a link about them

  5. They get paid good money by Blackwater once you get out!!! Worked with them in Thailand Cobra Gold, they seemed pretty cool. Highly trained in all areas of doing any type of rescue anywhere. The team we met could have used just a bit more training on land nav but besides that they are good to go! But dont expect to be kicking down doors doing hostage rescue, not their area of expertise.
