We have some spanish exchange students in our school, and some don't speak a lot of english.

Can anyone tell me some nice phrases in spanish (and the pronunciations)?

  1. Hola, que tal

    Ho-lah, Kay Tahl (short a)

    Hello, how are you?

    Me gusta tu pelo.

    Meh goose-tah too pello.

    I like your hair.

    Amigo

    Am-ee-go

    Friend.

    No me sé mucho español

    Noh meh say mooch-oh espanyol.

    I don't know much spanish.

    Cuide bien de ti!

    Queedeh bee-en deh tee!

    Take good care of yourself!

Do say if there is anything else :¬)

  2. There are a lot of FREE translation programs on the internet, just search Spanish translation. Write what you want to say in English and then translate it via the program.

  3. "welcome to our school":  "Bienvenido a nuestra escuela"  (if it's a guy)--would be pronounced:  "Bee-ehn-VEH-nee-doh  ah  nooESS-trah  ess-cooEH-lah."  (if it's a girl, it would be "bienvenida")

    How are you?--"¿Cómo estás?"--prounounced:  "COH-moh  ess-TAHS?"

    "How's it going?":  ÃƒÂ‚¿Cómo te va?"--pronounced:  "COH-moh  teh  vah?"

    "What's your name?"--"¿Cómo te llamas?"--pronounced:  "COH-moh teh   YAH-mahs?"

(NOTE:  the capital letters indicate the stress is on that syllable)

  4. Just think of phrases you would ask any new student, then hop on over to Google to translate!  Provided you know the basic pronunciation rules (which are pretty simple compared to English rules).

    Some sites I found:

    http://www.espanol-ingles.com.mx/phrase_...

    (basic info)

    http://www.mazinfo.com/visitors/spanishp...

    (phrases and some pronunciation)

Hope that helps!  I think it's wonderful that you're trying to talk with these kids.
