Can anyone tell me the best currency to use in Cuba?

I have heard you can use Sterling? Can i change this at my hotel?

the best currency to use is the convertable peso CUC, to bring with you though you should bring either euro or canadian dollars.  DO NOT BRING US DOLLARS the best place to change your currancy is the airport when you get there or the bank in town, some hotel's have a little bank kiosk that'll give youa good rate but don't change your money at the front desk, you can but they'll give you the worst rate.

The tourist currency in Cuba is the CUC , peso convertible.

The most accepted currencies in the banks for exchange are

Pound Sterling, Euro and Canadian dollar.

Do not use USD because because there's an extra duty of 10% on the USD. Several hotels have an exchange service but do not offer the same flexibility as a bank does , in general the exchange rate at banks and Cadeca 's ( official state exchange offices) are more favourable than in hotels.

Check you money all the time , shortgiving happens frequently

In general, you need CUCs, though there are some tourist areas that accept payment in euros direct.

Best to take you pounds and change them once you get to Cuba.

Use or take to Cuba?

You can only use CUC (Unidad Convertible Cubana)  Now, you can take euros and exchange them at your arrival for CUC.  Do not take US Dls because they have a 10 percent tax when you exchange them.  Best luck

You can only use CUC (Cuban convertible pesos) in Cuba that tourists are to use. But yes, you can change your Sterling at your hotel and/or at the airport (and the banks throughout Cuba).

Make sure to get a receipt after each exchange as well.

Just a little suggestion, try not to change all your money over as you will need to change your money back before going home. CUC have no value outside of Cuba and you wouldn't want to lose too much in your re-conversion.

Just came back from Cuba 2 days ago.

In Cuba you can use Cuban Pesos Convertibles (CUC) or the Moneda Nacional (Cuban Peso or CUP --> 1 CUC = 24 CUP) only . Allthough some casa owner accept payment in Euro (bad changeing rates though).

Best accepted currencies to change in Cuba are:

- Sterling £

- EURO

- Swissfrancs

- Canadian $

(- US$ are changed for a very bad rate.)

You can change currencies in any bank, in hotels or at cashboxes (cadecas). If you want to use a credit card make sure it's not from an US bank.

dont bring US.

when your there you will have to use convertable pesos,

so if you can change it before you go, then do that.

if not, bring canadian or euros and change them at the airport-you get more for your dollar.

if you forget, you can change it once you get to your hotel for a huge interest charge, or at a bank for less of a charge, but still more then you would pay at the airport.

i think you have to change your money before you leave too, but make sure you have 20 pesos (i think it was that) to pay at the airport to be able to leave the country.
