  1. same thing

  2. There is no difference just 2 ways to say the same thing.

  3. I've never written a "traffic ticket". At the top of the book I keep in my posse box it reads "uniform citation".

  4. Ticket is a LAYMAN'S term for a CITATION.

Trooper:  A SUMMONS is an order to appear in court.  A citation is a document stating the violation of which someone is accused.

  5. A citation is an order to appear in court. A ticket can just be paid, and does not require an appearance.

However, in common language, the terms are used interchangeably.

  6. they are one in the same.
