Can anyone tell me the origin and meaning of the surname Johnsson. I know it came from Sweden but I want to learn more about it. Also how common is it in Sweden?

  1. yes, it's ICELANDIC....boys are named johnsson, girls: johnsdaughter...only not pronounced like it looks & and when girls get married, they don't take husbands name, but their children are named after his first name, ie: john


  2. It's derived from "John's son"; similar to "Richardson", "Frederickson", etc.
