Question:

Can anyone tell me the process of the lower body transforming from cycling?

I got my bike like I think in late March, and since I have ridden it around 4 days a week for at least an hour. It depends upon weather, sometimes it pours all weekend.

First thing I noticed was my calf muscles got toner and bigger, then I noticed that my butt got smaller (YAY!) and lifted. And now I am seeing more tone on the sides of my thighs, and some tanned arms, lol.

What was your process and any other stuff would be cool to know. Thanks!

  1. What you see as results from riding depends on how hard you ride, how long you ride and your current body condition. Cycling is a great cardio exercise and primarily works your entire legs including your rear end.

If you're over weight at all and watch what you eat you will loose fat; your legs (and everything else) will get thinner. You will note more shape, definition and tone, in your legs fairly quickly.

Building up muscle in your legs takes a very long time and very hard training, more so with most females. Most of what you think is muscle growth will be muscle shape showing as you tone and possibly lose the fat covering your legs. Note that the more you lean over your handlebars (like a racer would) the more you are using your glute muscles (rear end) not only does this shape you read end it also makes you a faster cyclist.

4 days @ 1 hr is a good amount of exercise. Ride as hard as you want - the harder the better and the more and faster your results will be.
