An auto dealer told me something the other day and I'm searching to prove or disprove what he said.

He said the events are:

1. Having a baby

2. Getting married

3. Buying a new house

Anyone?

  1. You buy a new car when you: (Upgrade)

    1. Get a promotion

    2. Win in the state lottery

    3. Retire

You buy an older model car when you need to sell your new car to cover your financial difficulties when you: (Downgrade)

    1. Got a demotion or fired from work

    2. Lost your money due to gambling

    3. Your ex-wife took your new car as part of your divorce settlement.

Here's another grouping. You buy a new car because: (upgrade)

    1. Your neighbor bought a new car.

    2. You are now middle-aged and want to spend your life savings to buy a new car to impress younger girls.

    2. Your 16 year old son wrecked your new car.

    3. Carnappers stole your new car.

    Moral of the story:

There are gazillions of factors why people buy cars and it is difficult  to just single out any best three of them.

    Enjoy!!!

  2. 1. Having a child or another child.

    2. Mid Life Crisis

    3. Getting a liscense

    - Duh.

  3. I would take buying a new house off of the list.  From my own experience, the death of a spouse is a common time for new automobile purchase, especially among women.  All of my friends and I bought new cars shortly after our husbands passed away.  The reason for this is that we wanted to feel safe and avoid unnecessary car problems for the time immediately following the loss of our husbands.

  4. 1) First License

    2) Graduation - something dependable for a college grad.

    3) Growing Family

  5. 1 salesmen will tell you anything to make a sale

#2 salesmen will tell you anything to make a sale

#3 salesmen will tell you anything to make a sale

#4 having a baby traditionally means dumping the 2 seater for a bigger car with more seats and 'safer' type car

#5 buying a new house usually doesnt mean getting a NEW car, usually people cannot afford to buy a new house AND a new car.  Usually in order to buy a new house people downgrade cars, sell theirs and buy a cheaper more economical 2nd hand car

#6 getting married does nothing to buying a car in general.  You've spent the price of a brand new car on your wedding, also cost of rings and then you have the honeymoon.  Again highly unlikely someone can afford to buy all those things AND a new car.

#7 getting a license sometimes means new car but most people cannot afford it and get 2nd hand

#8 MID LIFE CRYSIS?!?!? ;)  most men get either a sports / 2 seater / motorbike.  I know i will when i get there LOL.

Do your research for a new car online / magazines / tv shows, read reviews from multiple!!! sources, make your own conclusion.  Ask salesmen questions that your unsure of but take things with a pinch of salt.  Always haggle over price, try to get free car mats, a tank of petrol, mad guards those sort of things thrown in for free.

    Good luck
