  1. Dirty, S****y, talentless parasite.  Oh sorry thats Paris Hilton.

  2. You can feel the "vibe" and romance of the city, take a deep breath when you ride on the Seine River cruise and you will see Paris glide by like a dream. Once you go there, you will never forget the experience and I bet you will go back a second time! The Subway is easy to navigate and pretty safe, but not at night. Some areas have more migrants than Parisians so it may be advisible to watch your belongings. Of course in the city, you do have people approaching you to buy souvenirs. If you're not keen, just walk away and don't entertain them. Otherwise, I would say visit Nouvelle Eve instead of Moulin Rouge if you're into can-can shows. Nouvelle Eve has stand-up comedians and other acts with a strong french flavour. (At Montmatre)

  3. This might sound silly but buy the soundtrack to Amelie and put it on your ipod, Take a walk around Paris while listening to the music and it will honestly feel like you are in a movie!!

Beautiful city! Watch out for the traffic, especially around the Arc DeTriumph!!! A really good metro rail network too!! I felt very safe in Paris, obviously some areas are a bit dodgy as with any city! It is rather expensive but thats western Europe for ya! I walked the whole of Paris!!! it was a hike let me tell you but it was lovely! There are some gypsies and stuff but not like in bloody Italy, my god ive never seen so many beggars in my life!

  4. Paris is a beautiful city. The history, the architecture, the art, the food. It is easy to fall in love with Paris after one visit. You never realize how young the USA is until you visit Europe.

I've not had a problem with the Parisians. If you at least try to speak some French, you get more points. Bring a phrase book and learn a few key phrases before going to paris.

It's not too terribly expensive either. If you wish to dine on champagne and caviar, then you may run into some problems, money-wise. Restaurants post their menus outside so you can see if there's anything that strikes your fancy before going in. (And check the prices, too). Just take a stroll down the street and you'll come across many charming little restaurants.

As for souvenirs, don't buy at the first souvenir shop you see. The further you get away from a major attraction, the cheaper souvenirs. Rue de Rivoli has the best souvenirs and is conveniently located across from the Louvre and Tuilieries Garden. One Euro can buy you a miniature Eiffel Tower or 15 postcards. There are a lot of great shops near Notre Dame.

Buy a museum pass (they come in 2-, 4- and 6-day incremements). They save you time and money in the long run. At some museums, you can go to the front of the line (like at Sainte-Chapelle) or you can enter through a different area (Musee d'Orsay, Versailles). Available at any major Metro station ticket booth.

Get a Carte Orange if you'll be staying in Paris more than a few days. It is a week-long museum pass and is about 15 Euros, good from Monday to Sunday, unlimited access to Zones 1 (and 2--I think), which is all you'll need to explore Paris. You'll also need a passport-size photo for the Carte Orange.

If you keep your wits about you, wear your money belt, keep a tight grip on your belongings and don't let your guard down, you'll be fine and won't be a victim of a pickpocket. In your moneybelt, keep all important documents: plane ticket/voucher, passport, credit/debit/ATM cards and money. Operate with a day's worth of money in your pocket. If you need more, swing by a restroom and make a withdrawal from your moneybelt. Try to blend in as much as possible...leave the f***y pack at home.

    You'll have a wonderful time.
