My dad, who passed away last Friday, was of Cherokee decent. A relative told my mother that his grandfather, who was Cherokee, called my dad " Watash " when he was little. We are trying to figure out what it means.

  1. i know "watashi" in japanese means "I" but idk about cherokee

  2. It's a term used by military during the Korean War to mean best buddy, number one friend. Probably a corruption of the Japanese word for "I" or "me": watashi

  3. From what I find on Google it means friend.
