well, for school i have to do this assignment for the olymipcs and i chose water polo. although i am having trouble with finding some information. please help?

Some basics:

There's a  goalie and 6 field players on each team.  There's a yellow ball that each team tries to put in the other team's goal.  Strategy-wise, it's a bit l ike baskeball: players play offense and defense (except the goalie), there's a center, a center defender, and four drivers.

There's a lot of swimming involved.  There's also a lot of pushing and grabbing involved which leads to many foul calls.  If you want more, look up polo on wikipedia.  It may also help to watch a game.  Go to the olympics page on yahoo and it shows when water polo is televised.

-It entails a LOT of swimming.  Far more swimming than actually treading water.

-A high tolerance for pain, because you get kicked, and punched, and pinched, and none of it feels nice.  You've gotta be able to tough it out.

-Quick thinking to be able to understand all the ref's calls

-strong legs to tread water so much

-strong arms so you can throw the ball, fight off defenders, and swim fast

-Great aim to hit a goal with a goalie that has a massive armspan.
