Can anyone tell me what being a lab tech is like?

i'm enrolled in a 4 year program.....can anyone tell me what to expect as far as working conditions, salary and what the ascp test is like once i graduate?

  1. My friend is doing it as a paid internship.

    So far he's loving it. The pay is good, and you get to know your professors a lot better by spending a lot of time with them.

  3. if you like dealing with all kinds of specimines, looking under a microscope, using big machienes, being very much in demand, not getting paid what you are worth compared to nurses, than this is definately the job for you.  I do believe the salary will increase greatly in the near future due to the demand.  some specimines are really nasty - and some nurses don't label the containers as to what is in them, so you must guess and process accordingly if you can't track down the nurse that collected it.
