    70 db is the level used when calibrating speakers. I would go by what sounds good to you.

  3. You always adjust the volume to taste.

    Volume is a complex thing.  Your speakers are a huge variable, the distance you sit to the speakers are a variable and the type of music is a variable.

    Your age - is another factor.

    Just adjust the volume to how it sounds good to you. I sometimes keep the volume low for jazz, or crank it for rock when I'm alone in the house.
