Question:

Can anyone tell me what is wrong with my dryer?

When I plug my electric dryer to the power supply, instead of switching on, it's just producing a constant high pitched sound which won't stop. It doesn't switch on and doesn't start spinning or light up and just makes the annoying, continuous high pitched sound. It's a bad day out-- it's raining and the sky is overcast so I can't hang my clothes to dry outside! Can anyone please give me a solution or if you know what the problem might be, please let me know. Thank you.

  1. sounds like a problem with the belt that turns the drum, check and see if it's loose or off track

  2. Simon: Open your Dryer door and turn  tub, if turns free with no resistance your belt is most likely broken.  It could be the belt is just off,  but will most likely it is broken.

    good Luck

  3. I had that happen once and it was the belt.  If you have a basement, hang your clothes on a line down there.  If you can't do that, you're probably going to have to hang them on hangers in the shower.  Good luck!
