Can anyone tell me what kind of an area Upper Leeson Street in Dublin is? I am booking a hotel for my Mum?

Upper Leeson Street is an OK area, but it does get crowded and noisy at night.

Most of Dublin's hotels have websites, so why don't you do some research before booking.

If your mother is coming here for shopping, the Gresham might be a better choice

Hi , Upper Leeson Street is fairly central to Dublin City Center, approx , 15 mins walk., but it is also very close to the Night Club Scene, so be careful, may not be suitable for your Mother.

I am not young and stay at the North Star in Amiens Street.  Always been safe, but it may be a bit pricey.  You may find some cheaper digs in Gardiner Street in some of the smaller B&B's.  Try to get one with a web site - some are little more than hostels.  The Tourist information office should be able to help.

I wouldn't recommend upper leeson st. specially for ur mom, it gets busy most of the week days (Wed-Sat) and ppl are loud when their drunk, the whole scenary becomes obscene.. wouldnt recommend it..

on the other hand, Ballsbridge's hotels are quite delicate and enjoyable to stay in, quite and classy. A bit away from the city center but the area is well served by taxis & buses that takes about 10-15min to get to the city center if not less.

its a night club area so it attracts crowds going to discos, but not so much during the week nights. also known as a red light district, well it used to be not sure now.to be honest any area within dublin city centre can be ok, like every where nowadays you have to be careful when going out at night.
