  1. It depends on the depth of the transom, it been nearly thirty years since I sold my last boat even then there were no new boats using long shaft outboard engines it was an engine configuration that was out of fashion.

  2. its called a "short" shaft.

  3. ----------------------------------------...

                 ^ that length ^

  4. There are only three sizes. Short , Long and extra long ( rare ) .

You want a short Shaft like the other two homeboys said.

  5. it depends on the depth of the transom but if in doubt and depending on price if it matters,  get a long shaft, then at least you know that the prop will be deep in the water and you can adjust the trim by putting weight, i.e. spare fuel, battery, ballast in the bow to keep you on an even keel.

try and check with a boat owner in your local harbour if you are still unsure or a local yachting club for advice

  6. short shaft for average size inflatable

  7. It would almost certainly take a motor with a "short Shaft" ie 15". To be certain measure the height of the transom if it is 16" or less you need a Short Shaft Motor.

  8. all you have to do is measure the distance from the top of the transom down to the lowest part of the bottom of the inflatable, this measurement is set on top of the cavitation plate just above the propel la,(the cavitation plate must not be higher than the bottom of the inflatable)but can be lower so you need to get a outboard best suited,
