  1. Can you clarify "desperado" ?

  2. I want to know too...

  3. A "desperado" is a situation in which you know you are going to lose a piece and you try to gain as much advantage by getting as much material or positional advantage you can for the lost piece.

Addendum:  ' "Desperado " From Mark Weeks, Your Guide to Chess.

Definition: A type of combination where a doomed piece is sacrificed for maximum gain. A piece is doomed when, for example, it will be lost through a normal exchange of pieces. Desperado combinations can occur on both sides simultaneously, White and Black each sacrificing a doomed piece on their respective moves.'
