  1. 15 - 16 hh

i think 17hh would be pushing it

im the same height and i ride a 15.3hh mare

  2. It completley depends on the horses build! If it's a well built horse then a 15/16hh should be ok for you.

  3. anything above 15hh would do as u do not need a draught horse nor a shetland but in between would do good. If u r looking for a lot higher i would probably go for a cross or a thourougbred is quite tall.

  4. I agree with the first answer. I'm 175/180 lb, riding trail/pleasure on a half dozen quarter/arabs between 15hh and 16hh with no bad effects.  Depends partly on how strenuous your riding will be.  In any case, I haven't seen many 17hh+ horses except draft.  Just be sure your saddle fits right and use a good pad.

  5. I would say a horse 15-16hh would be fine for you as long as they are built well.  Just make sure that the horse has a good sized body frame and that they aren't too thin or anything.  Don't go any shorter than 15hh.  You don't want your feet dragging on the ground! :-)  Honestly, though, as long as you are comfortable on the horse, and you have a well-fitted saddle, you will be fine with just about any horse in that height range.  Good luck!
