  1. you need about 10 grand, 35 hour minimum in a Part 141 Operation. It is very time consuming, you will have to study. It will be one of the greatest accomplishments of your life, Being a Pilot is a Great pass time or Job. PPL makes it a pass time ;)

  2. The FAA requirement is 40 hours at a FBO flight school or 35 at a part 141 school such as a college. However the average flight time for a private pilot is closer to about 80 hours. I am in a flight club which is a group of people who own a couple aircraft. Most of us had atlest 75+ hours before taking our practicle test. Flight clubs  can lower your over all training cost by as much as half or more and make flying cheaper and give you friends to talk about aviation with. Joining a goup like AOPA can help link you into many resources that can help you succeed. Buying a ground school video course is great beacuase you can always replay parts that you are a little fuzzy on after you get your licence. Dont become cocky because your a pilot, and always get the blue side up. Good luck and have fun.
