  1. American dollars, they will take take cypriot pounds too

  2. $$$$$$$$$$ god work every where.

  3. Egyptian pound is a fairly stable currency so I suggest you bring that. You will not need sterling or dollars except to buy a visa on entry.

  4. I was at Sharm El Sheik and took British pounds and there´s absolutely no problem. Just bear in mind that 1 pound =10 Egyptian pounds (well it was 2 yrs ago) so you can tip about a pound or so and you´ll be fine. You can also withdraw Egyptian pounds from the ATM, we had one right outside the hotel, we were trying not to use it because we tought commission would be huge, but when we came back to the UK we checked it and it was a tiny one. I´d say that´s better than changing money if you do run out...just remember to barter for everything.

    Enjoy!

  5. if you come from the UK bring Sterling pounds .

    a pound = about 10 Egyptian pounds .

if you come from the US bring dollars .

    a. dollar= 5.35 Egyptian pounds .

when you arrive , exchange about 200 of the currency you bring .

ask for small paper units , 10/5 pound notes for tips .

change bit by bit .there are exchange offices everywhere .

bring your visa card , too .

you may run short of cash and need more .

    have a nice trip.

  6. apparently GBP are worth alot in Egypt.

    ask a travel agent :)

  7. I went to egypt and we was advised to use american dollars

  8. The american dollar is stronger than the pound at the minute so you get more for your money.  Pretty much any currency is accepted, i was there in January i was given a price in egyptian pounds, i paid in american dollars and was given change in english pounds!  Took a bit of working out at the time!!

  9. don't tip with sterlings. you need to exchange your money to Egyptian money as soon as you arrive.

  10. If it is your first time you would better taking egyptian pound because you do not want to get frauded out.

  11. To be in the safe side and not to face problems or situations wanting to exchange currencies, I recommend you take Egyptian pounds, and if you want to take a good price for it exchange you currency at the airport or in any currency-exchange-office near the place you are staying in. WHY? Because not all places in Egypt accept a currency other than Egyptian pound, i.e. The Bibliotheca Alexandrina (The new Library of Alexandria) you'll have to pay with Egyptian pounds. Also Taxis (if they're not greedy ;) – they mostly are :D ) <-- TMI ... loool

As an Egyptian, that was my opinion. Hope it's useful, welcome to Egypt in advance ;)
