Can anyone tell me what this book is called?

I read it a few years ago and really liked it. I think it takes place in Australia, and it's about these kids that get kidnapped. They are tricked into thinking they're being taken to another planet, but they are actually still on Earth. Then they have to perform in this "circus". There is also a sequel. Can you tell me what that is called too?
