Question:

Can anyone tell me what this meeting request means?

I interviewed for a front office position last Friday. Today (Monday) I spoke with the office manager, and she asked if I could come in to meet with the Dr. himself on Tuesday. She gave me the choice of 3 meeting times: 12:30, 12:45, or 1 p.m.

I know that I'm still being considered, which is definitely a plus, but I wonder what the implications of the 15 minute time slot means. I also want to know what to expect during this meeting.

If anyone can give me any type of information at all, I would really appreciate it. I want to get this job so badly.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer me.

  1. you are being considered. the Dr. just needs to meet you. the 15 minute slots are because he won't ask you much ,and drs. are very very busy and will not spend a lot of time on this sort of admin work.

dress nicely and a bit on the conservative side (look professional). good luck

  2. Hello Roro,

Being called for what amounts to a "second job interview" means you made the cut after the first. The 15 minute interval probably is probably due to the business schedule that most Doctors have. Since the time appears to be short the questions you will be asked most likely will be very precise.

Assuming the position is a doctors office, you may be asked some specific "behavioral questions" such as, Describe how you managed to resolve a conflict in scheduling? Give me an example of when you...

They want to assess your judgment, communication skills, creative skills, your ability to diffuse difficult situations, etc.

You may be interviewed by not only the Dr. but other staff as well in whats called a "panel or group interview". You may be asked some of the same questions you were asked in the first. Always give honest and consistent answers to the questions put to you.

It is just as important for you to know what questions to ask the employer. Remember job interviews are a two way street. You want to make sure the job is right for you. For example, ask does the doctor plan to expand his practice or sell it in the near future? If the doctor sells his practice how might that affect your job if you are selected?

Also do some research on the the business have there any consumer complaints or major malpractice lawsuits filed against them?

  3. doctors don't have alot of time to spare.  They just want a chance to look you in the eye and then take their impressions of you into consideration.
