  1. You don't have to be in special education program to get a little help. My nephew was just diagnosed as ADHD and he doesn't see a special teacher. I'm guessing that you have a medical diagnosis of these, and I believe you should share them with someone at your school that will understand, such as a school nurse or psychology (or Health) teacher. Counselors have an education in psychology so you could always ask he/she what you should do.

You are fully capable of doing the work that your peers do, you just need more one on one with the teacher to make sure you understand. I didn't know I had this problem back then but in school I was never able to stay focused (and always daydreaming), not understanding assignments, and getting in trouble b/c the teacher thought I was just not wanting to pay attention.

Maybe you can get a tutor, most schools have them after school (older students and teachers and its usually free) and that should help you alot.

I hope I've helped you some - Hope everything works out!

If you ever need some support - please email me. I would love to hear that this school year is much easier for you!

    God BLESS

  2. You should be able to get extra help, contact the school counselor if you have been diagnosed, or they have to provide testing for you legally. Or , talk to the principal or special education department. Your parents can request testing for you, and they legally have to comply within 45 days. You can get a 504 plan, and they can give you extra time and help on assignments and tests, and maybe go into an RSP program. Get your parents to help out. Good luck, my daughter is adhd, and I am a former special ed teacher, and it's not easy. They also might be able to get you a tutor.

  3. The reason your teachers 'don't get that' is because schools do NOT have to teach kids in different ways UNLESS the child is in special education services.

The ONLY way you can get this help is thru special ed services, and your parents will have to get this started.

In order to see if you can get special ed services, your parent has to write a letter to the district special ed director requesting a full educational evaluation to see if you qualify to get special ed services.

See, since you learn differently you have to have a teacher that KNOWS HOW you learn differently and KNOWS HOW to teach you in that way.

Regular teachers don't know HOW to do this, only special ed teachers do.
