Can anyone tell me what type of disease can cause cancer?

My husband told me about my brother-in-law but can't remember what it's called. He won't ask for me and I'm not supposed to know so I can't ask anyone. I've tried doing research on the internet but can't come up with anything. He thought it might start with an "O" and the only other thing he can remember is that he has had 4 treatments already costing $5,000 each, has to have 4 more, has them every other week and that insurance won't cover it unless it does prevent or turn into cancer.

polyps can cause cancer. They usually do. HPV can cause it in women, but that's a virus :/
