Ok so my family and i adopted him from the pound a few weeks ago and we can't quite figure out what he is. They tried to tell us that he was some sort of lab but, i don't think he is. Can anyone figure it out? Thanks so much in advance!

Ohh and sorry if the pictures aren't to great.

  1. awe what an interesting cute little mutt!

he looks to me like a german shepard/lab/dalmation mix of some sort....

if you have the money and are very curious for correct answers, call around your area vets.  some may offer DNA testing which can tell you exactly whats in that crazy mix!

  2. I think it is a combination between a Dalmation and another breed of dog

  3. lab

    basset hound

    dalmation

  4. a black and white one.

  5. hes no a lab. But he is cute.

  6. I would say Lab Border Collie mix, possibly smething else with the border collie, but it is definitely border collie. Possibly Pointer Border Collie or maybe German Shepherd, but def not Dalmatian. maybe spaniel? Sometimes there are 3 or 4 breeds in a dog, s/he looks like maybe wolf border collie lab altogether??

Email me for a more in-depth search.

    Luv,

        Moon Wolf

  7. Basenji X with maybe fox terrier.

And I'm 99% sure about it!

It's not furry enough to be either lab or collie.

Dalmations ears don't stick up, and it's defo not a german Sheppard.

    xD

  8. He looks like maybe a lab mixed with an Australian sheepdog...he is so cute!

  9. not sure what he is,but he's not a lab for sure.

  10. He looks mixed. A cross between possibly a Australian Kelpie and some other similar sort.

  11. Border Collie mix.

Hard to tell what with though.

  12. From the pictures, I would guess he's a Pointer mix.

If you're really curious you could purchase a canine DNA testing kit (such as the K9 Heritage Breed Test), but they range from $60-$112+ and aren't always conclusive.

  13. He looks like he is a distant relative of a lab, but I'm pretty sure he's got a very broad lineage (read: mutt). He's adorable though!

  14. I would guess something like German Shepherd (head and ears are dead-on for a GSD) mixed with either Border Collie or Spaniel (the freckled legs are classic for both breeds).  There might be a little lab thrown in, most mixes aren't 50-50 with just 2 breeds in them, but lab is definitely not the dominant breed.

  15. After I saw his photos, I knew I've seen a face like that before. A while back, someone was tossing around an ad on my local Craigslist.com regarding an "Akita mix" that they desperately had to get rid of. After a long time, they finally just dumped him at a kill pound - but luckily he was pulled from the pound by a rescue group. Anyways! Here are his photos:

They labeled him as a Great Dane x Labrador mix. (I do not think that he is either of those breeds.)

In my opinion, your dog and that dog look incredibly similar.

I don't know what mix he is - he's a mutt and you may never find out what he's mixed with. Gorgeous boy. Good for you for rescuing him!
