you should be able to look in guide books like rough guides brazil (which i love there guide books there not stuck up or anything and easy to read) or lonely planet they have excellent reviews on hostels and tell the truth on how they are to stay in you can simply go to there websites as well or try i think hostels.com i think they have a international site and you choose the country you want and take it from there

The Ibis hotel chain is very affordable

I stayed at this chain in 2004, very clean rooms. Comparable with any big chain in the United States. At the time it cost less than $25 per night
