Can anyone tell me when the US last won a war without aid from another country?

Of course there have been several wars but most involved Allies of the US as well as American troops. What I'm looking for is the dates of the last war the US won without any of their allies being involved, small conflicts like the Bay of Pigs, Greneda etc can't be classed as a war because there was no formal declaration of war issued.

  1. If your criteria is for a war to be declared, then the US has only been to war five time, War of 1812, Mexican-American War, Spanish-American War, WWI, and WWII.  We tied in the War of 1812 and won the other four.  Mexican-American War and Spanish-American War are the only wars we have fought on our own.

  2. When you talk about the US doing something, you must remember that it has never ever done anything without the help of immigrant aid from another country. Even its present Olympic team would be bereft if you took away the injection and assistance from another country. Their scientific and technological endeavours owe more to emigre brains than local hill-billy, grass chewing home-grown folks from the Appalachians. If blue-grass music won any war, then they might have gone it alone.

  3. WWII, because WE helped the europeans.

  4. Yes, they declared war on diplomacy, and won hands down without any help from anyone.

  5. The Civil War? The Mexican/American War? The Indian Wars?

  6. there aren't any.the general way to win a war is to have allies in the theater.that's just good strategy! there are traitors of every country we invaded from the spanish american to the war of 1812.to war with the native americans.you have allies in them all.

  7. They did not win the Bay of Pigs and it is debatable whether Grenada was a contest worthy of the name. So just the Civil War really and some of them lost that as well!

  8. ok, smartass, give me one country that has won a war without allies.

  9. 1898 Spanish American War

    Cheers

  10. Erm korea sorry no u ddidn'twin that

maybe vVietnam mm perhaps not no winners there either

ermmmm let me think erm erm erm what bout ur war with the mexicans or should we call that one a draw really erm erm

well ur war on mcdonalds for makin you all a bunch a fat foookerrss might end in victory for all u  whales maybe hehe

  11. seems like REKON DOG is quick to pull up others for bad spelling, cant see why as REKON in the military sense is spelt RECON,but then you would have to be in recon to know that,as to your question, there isn't one as the states along with all western countries will always feel the need for allies just as we in the uk do

  12. the key here is if you don't have allies you don't win. so although it may seem tough to march into a war by yourself you'll get a can of you know what opened on you pretty quick

  13. We've got people that won't, don't enlist and those that complain about spending on military strength, and in the end, I think that will be our downfall.

  14. War of 1812

The date you need is in the name of the war ;)

  15. Civil war, which we won and lost at the same time.

  16. Not many, the United States has been involved with the League of Nations, the precursor to the United Nations of today since the turn of the 19th Century.  The Spanish-American War, we had a handful of New Zealand and Australian military forces help in the engagements in the Philippines.  There were British Soldiers aiding us during the Boxer Rebellion.  And in the bloody battles of the Civil War, the British were aiding the Confederates with supplies and naval equipment.

There was a war in Mexico when the Marines stormed Chapultepec Castle during the Mexican-American War (including the entire war-no foreign aid), or when the US engaged war at Tripoli; these are considered wars but not a major theater that you may be seeking!  Even though the US has won these wars and conflicts, there has always been another country that was influenced in the aiding the US.

Apparently some people here are disgruntled against the United States.  Obviously lacking the proper education of making an intelligent opinion (see below) "erm umm erm erm erm erm".  It seemed that he/she forget the 'M' in "Dub" too.

  17. They beat the *** of the j**s in ww2.

The battle of the coral sea.

    The batte of Midway

    Taking back Baatan

    Regaining all the Phillipines

Regaining all the islands before mainland japan.

    The taking of Okinawa,

    Taking of Iwo Jima.

  18. thats what friends are for..i bet u don't have many or this question would have not been necessary

  19. Most wars by any country are not fought alone, most countries would seek allies in their battles for political, logistic and economical reasons.  That is why countries enter into pacts with other countries our sign particular treaties, so that if someone threatens one country, they face the wrath of an alliance and not a single threat.  That is why there is such a thing as NATO or the United Nations.  If a country has a war with no other countries choosing a side then it would most likely be a civil war and by treaty, most countries have agreed not to interfere with a country engaged in a civil war.  So anyhow, I guess the only correct answer would be the Cold War, in which the United States caused the collapse of the Union of Soviet Socialists Republic!

  20. I wonder at the purpose of your question, and fear you're very much missing the point. The US catches h**l for being the front man in many world conflicts, yet it does, unseen and uncredited, the world's bidding. It is not as if the US cannot fight on its own. Rather, its interests jibe with local powers that should, and sometimes do, carry their share of the burden. In fact, with no criticism implied toward less powerful nations, only the British pull their fair share with the Americans. One of the ironies of the post-war world is that the very European peoples who tout their cultures and societies as superior to America's owe their lifestyles to the minimalist militaries their nations enjoy. They are protected by the American military umbrella. Again, Britain is an exception. While the UK gets much of their arsenal from America (often free), the skill and experience of their military makes it worthwhile for the US. Again, they pull their weight, but other nations do not. Shared interests call for shared risks. America should not have to do it all alone; it is not the case that it cannot. Many trace the decline of US/French relations to the fact that, once buffered by Central and Eastern Europe and American nukes, France withdrew from NATO and reduced the size and budget of its military. Must be nice.

  21. Um never.  In fact, the only country I can think of throughout the history of mankind that has won armed conflic without the help of their allies was maybe Persia.

  22. Civil War?

  23. The Cold war.   :) .... thanks ronnie.
