  1. FGS It was not a leek, yes we know it was St. David's Day..he was supposed to wear a leek or a daffodil , some duh brain gave him a spring onion instead. It looked pathetic and insulting. If they couldn't find one at the last minute they shouldn't have bothered. He should know better....doesn't he know that you judge a man by the size of his Leek? Nuf sed...

  2. Are you sure?Maybe a leek.

  3. He has to, he's the Prince of Wales.

Someone should have told him it wasn't a leek though. Instead of letting him make a fool of himself with a spring onion on national telly.

  4. He's the Prince of Wales, it's St. Davids Day (Patron St of Wales) and it was a leek (National symbol of Wales)

  5. A bloody huge spring onion as well! I think it more likely he was patronising the Welsh by celebrating St Davids Day with a leek.

  6. Saint David's Day is the feast day of Saint David, the patron saint of Wales, and falls on 1 March each year. The Royal Welsh Regiment and the Welsh Guards traditionally celebrate St David's Day with the presentation of leeks to soldiers, often by a member of the Royal Family, and a parade.

Many Welsh people wear one or both of the national emblems of Wales on their lapel to celebrate St. David: the daffodil (a generic Welsh symbol which is in season during March) or the leek (Saint David's personal symbol) on this day. The association between leeks and daffodils is strengthened by the fact that they have similar names in Welsh, Cenhinen (leek) and Cenhinen Bedr (daffodil).

The date of March 1st was chosen in remembrance of the death of Saint David on that day in 589, and has been celebrated by followers since then. The date was declared a national day of celebration within Wales in the 18th century.

  7. I think it was supposed to be a leek for St Davids day, but he did look a bit of a plonker didn't he?

  8. its a leek as it is st david's day, the patron saint of wales, and he is the prince of wales.

  9. Didn't see it, but it was probably a leek, as it's St David's day today

  10. he probably was very proud of it!

it may have been one he grew himself on his estate!

for goodness sake he's married to Camilla - wouldn't you prefer an onion/leek up close and personal?

  11. It's to chop up and pop in his egg-mayonaise sarny after the interview.
