Can anyone tell me why companies, like car insurance co, can run credit checks on you? Not fair???!!!!?

Because they have found the best predictor of future behavior, is Past Behavior (always being late to pay your bills)

It's only unfair to people trying to game the system and not wanting to have to be held responsible for irresponsible behavior.

Basically becasue it has been proven that people who are responsible with their credit are also more responsible in most other aspects of thier lives, therefore making them better risks in the eyes of insurance companies.

Not only is it fair, it's legal.

Studies have shown that people that are not responsible with their personal lives (like not paying their bills) are not responsible with their vehicles either.
