  1. the jockey club is a club for the "chaps" and probably in the good old days the lower classes were not considered good enough for facial hair

  2. For the ten thousandth time there is NO RULE that says jockeys cannot have facial hair!

It is all down to personal choice - the chin strap would rub on any stubble - and hygiene reasons - do you fancy combing mud/dirt out of your beard every day?!

To some extent it may be down to tradition - years ago trainers would insist that jockeys turned up to ride work at their yard looking smart and presentable, being clean shaven is part of that.  I know some old boys that still work in racing (70+) that still wear a shirt ant tie to work in the yard.

  3. Some men grow facial hair very fast so maybe after a long distance race they may tip the scale.

  4. Coz people pull 'em!

  5. i asked my husband about any rules like this.  he told me a big no.  he was a jockey and an exercise rider fur many many yrs.

  6. I think your wrong ,, I never saw that rule,, when I rode But maybe I skipped that part because I am a girl ?

    I think your wrong

    show us that rule please
