Question:

Can anyone think of a better system for my friend's burger restaurant?

My friend owns a burger restaurant (they serve other food too) and lately she's been saying that their system of taking people's order is not realy efficient. When a customer orders something, the cashier writes it down on a piece of paper, punches it into the register, and then hands it over to the kitchen. It sounds simple enough but when people have complicated orders and there's a long line up this can become very tedious.

So if any of you have any suggestions on how to improve, please go ahead :)

  1. It depends on the register they are using.

With the proper programming, training and matching the right equipment to the need, things can move through the kitchen faster.

A touch screen register offers the fastest input of orders and the shortest learing curve. The server takes the order, inputs it into the register and it prints out automatically in the kitchen.

This type of system assures that extras are charged for, there are not problems with being able to read the writing and there is tracking for managment purposes.
