  1. Bilbo and Gandalf.  Gandalf was a friend of the family of Bilbo but thru the adventure they became great friends.


  2. Been a long time since I read the Hobbit, but wasn't Bilbo Baggins a bit of a loner. Maybe I've got the wrong book, but it has been a long time.

  6. The dwarfs take turns carrying Bilbo, pulling him into the trees when the wolves were coming, etc.

    Other than that, during the whole book, the dwarfs, Bilbo, and Gandalf work as a team to reach their final goal: the lonely mountain and the treasure.

  8. d**n that is an okay book to read on your own, but assigning it for class just dilutes it. All those spots where Bilbo and the dwarfs buddy up is one. Especially at the part with the trolls. Well Gandolf comes into that one, and all three groups kind of work together not to be eaten.  

  9. No.  But there are lots in the Bible.  The Gadarene swine are a good example.
