  1. Puppet shows...

    Show a film...

    Listen to music...

    Giant objects...

    A little drama...

    A parrot that talks...

    Baby pets...

  2. fake dinosaur bones

heelies if they don't have them already

    toad

    farriet

    pogo stick

  3. Go to a teacher's supply store, you'll find all kinds of ideas...but I'd get different kinds of texture like: foam, cotton, nuts&bolts, (big size please), rubber, wood blocks, sandpaper...etc. Besides texture they'll learn opposites like soft and hard, light and heavy...fill up a bottle of water and another with sand , they can also learn about transparency, liquid and solid...

and to make even more interesting, have everyone make a bottle of corn syrup and fill in with those confetti, you glue the top and they have something they made and looks real cute.

They will also enjoy it very much watching the confetti "navigates" real slow in the syrup:-))

  4. Well, this should be easy since preschool age children find nearly everything and anything strange, interesting and stimulating. It's just the nature of the age; they want to know all about this world around them and everything in it! Remember they've only been around for a few years so it's all new to them. :)

Here are just some of the fun ideas you may like to try:

    *sensory tub ideas:

    - a ginant sunflower (let them pull out the seeds and take a closer look w/ magnifyers)

    - gak/flubber/oobleck etc. --recipes http://homeschooling.gomilpitas.com/extr...

    - water w/ items that sink/flost (i.e cork, washer, a stick, a bar of soap, small things from around the room... anything really)

    - freeze things the kids like (small toys, glitter, food coloring, etc.) in ziploc bags, or differnt shaped bowls; then let them watch/try to get the items out as the ice melts

*home-living (change this area into something else for a while):

    - grocery store

    - vet

    - doctor's office

    - resturant

    - camp ground

    *science table/science activites:

-Take an ear of Indian corn and place in a shallow dish of water. It will sprout within 4 to 5 days. Children are fascinated by this display of growth. We like to measure it every couple of days and record what we see.

-Make a sand search bottle. Put several items into a plastic bottle and fill 3/4 full with sand and seal it well. Make a picture key of the items for children to search for.

-If your children are old enough (probably older 4s and 5s) a discovery table with old unusable appliances can be a great way for children to explore how things work. Provide them with screwdrivers, pliers and supervision, and watch them take apart radios, toasters, clocks, tape players etc. and find out what makes things work.

-Create and Invent Center- Provide tape, glue, scissors, paste, staplers, hole punchers, etc. Add household items: cartons, boxes, lids, buttons, yarn (anything you want) and let the children become inventors! They can name their inventions and display them for others to play with and/or look at.

-Sun Painting: Take a dark color of construction paper outside with 4-5 distinct objects-blocks, letters, shapes, scissors, etc. Place the paper on the ground in direct sunlight, scatter the objects on the paper and let the sun work its wonders. After 2-3 hours of baking, the paper will fade around the objects. Take the objects off the paper and you will see that where the objects are, the paper hasn't faded! Kids are fascinated by this!

-Also, if you can get them, butterfly larvae or silk worms are lots of fun to watch and promote lots of daily discussions!

Hope you and your class find some of these ideas new, useful and fun!!! There are a million more I'm sure you'll come across! :)
