Me and this girl were a singing duo and one night at a working man's club we thought it would be fun for her to start the act and me to join her from the door into the club. She started singing "When I'm calling you oo oo oo' and I launched into 'I will answer too oo oo' when the bouncer grabbed me, said 'Shut it, there's a turn on' and threw me out. And that's how Dame Tiri Te Kiwana got her first break.

I was lead singer/guitarist in a new band I'd formed and got locked in the toilet just before we were due to go on stage at Macclesfield working mens club.

Anyway, they grabbed an American bloke standing at the bar to take my place and he was ok so I heard.

I've no idea who he was, but they changed their name to the Jimi Hendrix experience...
