Can anyone work out the carbon footprint of the British Government, with its mobile military arsenal?

This is a serious question and one which I have been pondering for months. I sense that government propaganda urges citizens to take personal responsibility for global warming and to change their lifestyles. What is the point of changing to economy light bulbs, recycling everything and reducing my fuel consumption, if the war machine of men, weapons and the means to transport them continues to operate in the same way? Compared to a fighter plane, my ageless Mazda is a mouse.

  1. True, their carbon footprint is huge, but who cares?  We've known we are destroying the environment in a disgusting fashion since the 80's, but done nothing about it due to greed and laziness.  Its too late to change the effects now, so why bother worrying about it anymore?

  2. Wow I am amazed that you actually call out your government for being hypocritical. Do you not see that liberal governments such as the one in England is a do as I say not what I do organization?

Now for the bad news: Carbon is not a pollutant. CO2 is a good thing it is called plant food. We are not destroying the planet it is way to complex for man to drasticaly change it.

  3. I agree with you, a military arsenal which is frequently bought and sold to the highest bidder; the numerous wars being continuously fought all over the world cause monumental damage to the environment as well as loss of life; bombs are full of noxious chemicals too plus depleted uranium; governments are hypocritical; politicians are just mass murderers.

  4. yes

the carbon footprint calculators like http://actonco2.direct.gov.uk/index.html

include a factor for your government, I think for UK its about 3-6 tonnes per person per year, probably 30-50% of which is miliitary depending if you include comutes for civil servants etc..

  5. yea thats why you just gotta do what youre gonna do and not bow down to outside pressures from the hypocritical government

  6. yes it looks like it's 'business as usual' for gov. and - errr - big business, and the gov. are 'plucking the low hanging fruit';seeing how much they can get us citizens (oops, sorry, subjects...) to do off our own bat before they have to join in for real.....

  7. The thing is we have millions of mice mazdas and only a few fighter planes running about. :)

but i completely think it's ludicriuos grandma has to be cold in the winterfor global warming? Kill the electric car go to war with IRAQ for oil it makes no sense. :D
