2 months ago while i was coming home on the train there was an O2 XDA Stellar mobile phone (still boxed, brand new in a carrier bag) left lying under a chair so i took it and handed it in to the police station. The police told me to come back after 2 months and if nobody had claimed it then it was mines.

I went back to the police station last week and nobody had claimed the phone so they gave it me.

The only thing is that the phone is now blocked as it was reported lost or stolen.

What i want to know is if there is anything i could do with the phone to unblock it or is that the phone unusable ???

Do you think i could even sell it for spares or repairs or just put it in the bin ?????

  1. You need a new SIM card for it and also you need a reference from the police, stating the circumstances of your find and subsequent action.

Take the reference to your phone shop of choice, when you buy your SIM. They should take the necessary action, to get you connected.

  2. usually when they block it they block the sim card ??

have you tried using another sim card btw it would have to be o2, to see if it works?

alternatively if you try to give back the phone again you could contact o2 and they maybe able to trace the sim card to the owner

  3. hi, if you dont want the hassle of trying to get it unblocked, i would sell it on ebay. be totally honest about it and i bet you will get lots of interest. there are people out there with the knowhow on mobile phones. you even get people buying faulty ones cos they know how to get them fixed cheaply. good luck

  4. Sorry, but it cant be unblocked by legal means. Because it is on O2 it will already be unlocked to all networks. I know that certain market traders have a way of unblocking the imei number so that it can be used again. Best to sell it to one of these traders,or sell to someone who lives abroad as it can be used there.

  5. This, for you, might be more hassle than it's worth. Providers can now a days block both the SIM and the handset to prevent stolen handsets from ever being used. Of course, there are people out there who have the technology to be able to unblock them but I'd be a bit wary as, if the network pick up on you using it again then you may be reported for using a stolen handset, even though you have been quite honest about the whole thing. I personally wouldn't bother trying. Sorry!

  6. why don't you take it back to the police station just so they know that it ain't stolen and that you handed it in and they said you could have it

  7. Go To One Of the Dealers For The Phone With Police Report and Tell Them The Situation. They Should Unlock It For You
