I quit my job due health and safety issues. The job was in the transportation industry. In the winter of 2007 i was given a bus to drive that had no HEAT!! I repeatedly ask for a bus that had heat and was told, next time bid for a run with a better bus. I asked my union reps, what could i do about it and was told that i need to come to work. This job has a point system and if you get 15 points they will fire you. By spring i had gotten 13 points for being out sick with phenomena due to having to drive a bus with no heat. Its now August and im still sick and i can't afford to see a doctor and no money for medications if i do. I need help, give me some kind of advice of what to do. Please help this serious.

  1. apply for workers compensation, go on some sort of leave of absense, and all the while, look for a NEW, more AGREEABLE job.. good luck, hope you find a better job.

  2. Find a new job,

I'm sorry you are having a hard time,

I have compassion for you, and hope things get better.

    Good Luck.

  3. your union sounds like its not worth the membership.

i don't know about buses, but there are strict laws about having heat in houses in certain areas during winters.  i'd see if you could get away with a quick free question or two from a lawyer-if you know anyone who has free minimal access to a lawyer (typically a college student, or some jobs come with them) ask that person to talk to the lawyer and pitch it like its their own question instead of yours.  have them report back to you with the results.

  4. This might be really hard for you, but try getting government assistance if you can.  There is welfare and medicaid available for those who need it and qualify.  Is there any family or friends that could help you out?

  5. If you can prove that to a lawyer maybe you could sue the company for unsafe working conditions due to your health problems and if you can get your doctor that was treating you to get you somethng in writing for the courts as a testimony, you might be able to get somewhere with them. Some lawyers will take the case and get paid later if they think they can win the case... Something to look into.

  6. you need to quit your job and go to a clinic. transportation isn't the greatest line of work.

  7. I would get a Attorney. They fired unjustly. You should move to a warmer and drier climete.

  8. Exactly what phenomena were you experiencing? Were you seeing ghosts? Levitating? I doubt very much that temperature had to with any sort of phenomena. Or did you mean to spell pneumonia? If you did, that also is not caused by cold air. My best advice is to show up for work and be thankful you have a job. There are a lot of folks with no jobs, who would love to drive a bus with no heat, and wouldn't complain or call in sick. Finally - learn some basic English grammar and spelling - it would greatly help to convince people that you aren't a lazy, uneducated person looking for a free ride.
