  1. Well it depends where the tumor is. If its not attached to anything and losse then it can be removed safely. But if it is in the stomach or attched to something then there is a bigger risk. Yes tumors are painful for them.

  2. Talk to a small animal vet and see if you can find one comfortable with performing the surgery. It's frequently done on animals like rats, but hamsters are a little smaller so I'm not sure.

  3. Well, I suppose it depends on where the tumor is and how much money you're willing to spend.  Because hamsters live such a short time, many people would not think it worth the expense.

  4. At some point they will be painful, the hamster may go off its food.

You can get it removed at the vets but sometimes its kinder to put the hamster down as the hamster has to be operated on.

  5. If your hamster has a tumor, its best to take it to the vet. The vet can do surgery, if your willing to take the chance. Read below.

"It is virtually impossible to remove a tumour successfully from such a small animal so it is best to leave it alone. If the tumour appears to cause the hamster pain, or grows so large that the hamster finds it difficult to move, it is kinder to let your vet put the hamster to sleep."

Tumors can be very painful to a hamster, depends on the size of it.

  6. Hamsters are very prone to tumours as they grow old. And of course the tumours are painful for them.

If the tumour is still small, it can be removed. However it is a very difficult job to remove a tumour successfully from such a small animal so most vets just leave it alone. If the tumour appears to cause the hamster pain, or grows so large that the hamster finds it difficult to move, it is kinder to let your vet put the hamster to sleep.

So the best thing to do is to take your hamster to the vet and let him decide on how to treat your pet hamster.

I know I might sound hard but I have seen hamsters with tumours and the poor things go through so much pain due to these. I am sorry if your hamster is also going through the pain of a tumour.

  7. tumors can be removed when they are a small size. and they are usually not painful for them. the are just annoying. sometimes they will start to hurt. u will be able to tell if ur hammy is in pain by it showing signs of pain. usually no movement or slow movement or squeaks. take ur hamster to a vet when tumors appear.
