Well it depends where the tumor is. If its not attached to anything and losse then it can be removed safely. But if it is in the stomach or attched to something then there is a bigger risk. Yes tumors are painful for them.

Talk to a small animal vet and see if you can find one comfortable with performing the surgery. It's frequently done on animals like rats, but hamsters are a little smaller so I'm not sure.

I know I might sound hard but I have seen hamsters with tumours and the poor things go through so much pain due to these. I am sorry if your hamster is also going through the pain of a tumour.

tumors can be removed when they are a small size. and they are usually not painful for them. the are just annoying. sometimes they will start to hurt. u will be able to tell if ur hammy is in pain by it showing signs of pain. usually no movement or slow movement or squeaks. take ur hamster to a vet when tumors appear.
