cheating? Today it's like a sport. As long as I don't get caught, it's not a problem. It seems like so many people feel that way, I wonder how they justify it.?

  1. There are worse things as mentioned here earlier.  I dont think its thought of as a sport except in occasional immature circles of people but the point really is that there are reasons people do it.  I cant say its justified for any real reason other than selfishness and lack of communication but it takes 2 for a successful marriage and sometimes its not completely the cheaters fault.  Alot of us have been married 20 yrs or more and either havent cheated or been caught and continue on in successful marriages.  Unfortunately its not a one size fits all answer anybody can give to you but a successful marriage takes years to cultivate and can be burnt by a myriad of logic...including chance meetings with somebody different and attractive who pays attention to a confused spouse.  The media and todays lines of communication have amplified it and in a way made it seem more acceptable or easily forgiven.  PS...why did everyone give a past president a pass when he lied under oath about it and wasted millions of taxpayer dollars?

  2. there are a lot of things worse than having your spouse cheat....losing a child, losing a loved one, being paralyzed, being sick....yup lots worse things could happen to someone....

  3. I agree with both ABC and you there are a lot more things that could be worst,  But at that moment when it is discovered, you think that it is the worst that could happen,,,

It has been a game for generations,, I seen it in high school and through out my travels while in the military..  The one who can cheat with the most gets the highest bragging rights with their friends..I have been married twice,, I admit that during my first marriage I cheated,, Always felt guilty about it after it happened.. I cheated 3 times in  a 18 year marriage..  Never could figure out why I really did it,, although at the time I had very good reasons,,  Now with this marriage I can not come up with a single reason why I would want to cheat,, Again, I can sit here and come up with all kinds of justification's, why I should,, The one overwhelming fact that keeps me in line is that I Love my wife and no matter what I have given her my trust and my loyalty and my vow to love honor and cherish her for the rest of my life,,,,  So I guess I have benched myself from playing this game.......  Good Luck

  4. It's the demise of religion and morals in today's society. Plain and simple.

  6. There are still couples that don't justify it and hence...marriages and relationships fall apart.

We are all humans with our imperfections and justifications 'usually only when caught"

There are still good one's out there.

  7. There are still people that don't cheat our there,so don't give up.Not all people are created equal on this issue. Many of us feel as you do.Maybe you need to change your circle of friends.

  8. I agree with abc....

  9. People didn't just invent cheating yesterday you know.  Its been done quite a lot ever since monogamy came into vogue.  I'd say its done less now than before as women have become seen as full humans so now partners expect both to be equally invested in a relationship.

You just hear about it more as people communicate a heck of a lot more and with a wider swath of people.  We communicate within seconds to almost the entire globe while just 75 years ago most people only communicated with a small community for the span of their entire lives.

Even 40 years ago people's circle of life experience was limited mostly to their work friends, immediate neighbors and friends.

You have much more information now than before and with anonymity of communication people confess a lot more than they did in the good ole days.

  10. Those people that play that game die young.

  11. You are so right!!!  It truly is like a sport, and not a good one.  Sadly its a sport that if the "player" gets some nasty disease that doesn't wash off, they take that home to the "water person", who never even saw it coming.  And that is not to mention what it does to families emotionally.  How they justify it, is thinking they are superior in some way, special enough to think they are able and what they want is all that is important.  As devastating as it is, it should be illegal.
