  1. If you just got the cat, they can now ask for the deposit. If they were unaware that you had cats up until now, they can ask for a deposit.

If you are a month to month renter, they can change the rules with a 30 day notice.

Option is to move or be evicted.

  2. Check your lease. If ended and you have to sign a new one that mentions a pet deposit then your going to have to pay. If not move out. Also if its a month to month, they can charge too. Because nothings signed. Hope this helps. Good luck.

  3. Yes they can charge you a pet deposit.I have 2 cats and 1 small dog,I paid $250.00 for each cat and $350.00 for my dog.

  4. Yes they can depending on where you live.  They can charge anywhere from $250 - $500.

  5. I would check your lease that you signed when you first moved in.  There should be a pet clause on there somewhere, outlining the rules/fees/stipulations of owning a pet in that apartment.  If a deposit is not mentioned there, then you should not have to pay one now.
