Can asthmatics compete in the olympics? ?

since asthma is treated with steroids, would they still allow you to compete?

  1. Yes,a lot of Australian swimmers do have asthma and they still compete. I guess there are other alternative treatments for these athletes.

  3. Yes, athletes with asthma are allowed to compete.  The illegal/banned steroids are called "anabolic steroids".  The steroids used in medicine are called corticosteroids and help clear up the airways.  

  4. Absolutely. Many Olympians have been asthmatic. Many have even won gold. Look at Jackie Joyner-Kersee as an avid spokesperson for asthma awareness.
