My friend's 4 year old daughter was just diagnosed with autism. I'm pretty sure she could get ss benefits for her. Is that true? Will my friend have to fight the system to get them?

  1. just wanted you to no i no you can but its hard my son has pdd wich is a form of autism and i have been fighting for about a year buy i all so no some one who just took the pappers saying her child hade it and she got approved fast it just dep. on who gets your case

  2. it depends...    in PA,   even tho my kids are both have ASD's ,    SSI  takes income into account.   So, because my husband is mlitary with almost 12 years in, and we get housing allowance,  He  makes to much money for our kids to be elligible {even tho, hes stationed outside the us, AND  we have 2 separate households}

    i recently tried to re-apply, after my 4 yo autistic son, was diagnosed with Epilepsy also {and he has minor diagnosis of  Nystagmus and  moderate Ligamentous Laxity}

    and was denied, due to income

  3. yes-if there is Marked impairment-

    children with mild symptoms gnerally wouldn't qualify........

    and tehre is a fmaily income limit

  4. Not social security, no. Social Security is based on the income/work history of the person needing the benefits. Since she is only 4 and hasn't worked, she wouldn't qualify for this program. She may qualify for SSI disability, but that is based on household income....so the entire family's income would be checked to see if they qualify. Generally, it would need to be pretty low income to qualify....here are more details:

  5. possibly i know that u have to be able to prove u have a disability and have to be evaluated by a dr from the state and pass a test to prove that she is autistic. and even then u may have to fight
