Can avi video formats be played in ordinary dvd players ?

what about dvd players that are not recent. i mean not the latest like bought in around late 90's and early 00's???

Yes, especially the more recent ones. Most have the DivX logo. ☼

older dvd players no but you can convert avi too dvd format using nero or avi to dvd converter you can get these downloaded for free

it takes about an hour to convert

most of the old ones won't. i bought a new DVD player just to play divx. but my new one was only $60. so not a huge investment when i have stacks of movies and shows in divx/avi.
