Can babies hurt themselves inside the womb?

I am 22 1/2 weeks pregnant and for the last 3 days my daughter has been kicking me pretty hard. I know how delicate they are being this small but I wonder if its possible for them to stub their toe or something. Sometimes it scares me because its so out of the blue!

I also wonder if sometimes their kicks are unhappy ones and if they get fussy in there?!

  1. She's just showing you her stuff. I have never heard of a baby getting hurt in utero.  Interesting question though.

  2. THey are floating around in a huge water balloon...I don't think that they have much chance of hurting themselves. Its like a big padded room!! LOL!

  3. The only damage I've seen a baby do to themselves (I watch those baby shows on discovery and TLC) is have sucking marks on their arm.  This newborn baby boy started sucking his arms in utero and was born with what looked like hickies.  It was no big deal, but just thought I'd chime in :).  I'm sure you're baby is fine.  All babies kick and roll in utero, and I'm sure maybe they have their periods of being a little unhappy.  But who is to know for sure?

  4. Hi Hun, Na the baby cant hurt itself, they do kick hard wait till the end and they boot you in your ribs... they can hurt you but not themselves. A baby cant feel pain until 24 weeks thats why they alow abortions up to then ( me personally thinks thats disgraceful)

Just relax and enjoy feeling every movement your lil one gives you. Hope this helps take care and enjoy the rest ov your pregnancy

  5. They don't really have anything to stub their toes on...lol. It's pretty soft and cushiony in there.
