I have two baby rats coming, is it okay for them to live in a hamster cage while they are babies or do I go right to the huge one? I have both and I just want to make sure.

  1. BABY! only babies! once u start noticing them getting big change it! but if u can get a rabbit cage get it the rat will be happier!

  2. Use the big one. They will grow really quickly. They also better be the same s*x or you will have more baby rats than you can handle.

  3. Starting them in a small cage is fine, as females do not generally get as big as the males do. However, if you want them to grow large and not at all be stunted in any way, it would just be easier to place them in the larger cage. Not only that but it saves the hassle of introducing them into a new habitat when they out grow their smaller one.
