Can balliffs sieze your car if you owe them money?

Had a visit from a balliff this morning, saying he was going to sieze my car, gave me a document to stop me selling it after he left, does anyone know how i can get around this, hes supposed to be back in a week for the car and wont accept any other payment apart from full payment, i havent got this

and told him that i could pay weekly but he wants my car, help!!!!!

  1. Unfortunately they can, this being confirmed in their website. The vechicle will be sold and all costs will be recouperated. The remaineder should be sent back to you. If the car is still being paid off, theyll sell the car and youll still have have to continue with the payments until the car is fully paid.

    If though the car is under a lease agreement, then the situation gets complicated. Depending on the fine print, legally the balliffs might not be able to sell it and theyll just have to send you another bill, take you to court or you might have to recoup the costs by staying in prison for a bit.

  2. Yes they can take it, but not if it's subject to finance or hire purchase agreement, unless the money to be recovered relates to that agreement.
