  1. I think you mean the path of a thrown basketball follows a quadratic function s(t) where t is time.

    x = distance ball-ring in absis

    A = angle of elevation

    v = velocity of ball

    t = time consumed

    g = gravity

    so :

    x = v*t*cos(A)

    y = v*t*sin(A) - 1/2*g*t^2

    then:

    y= f(x) = v^2 *tan(A) - 1/2*g*[x/v]^2 *sec^2(A)
