  1. No, rock n roll actually started in the southern states of America, mainly Mississippi, Tennessee, Louisiana, and Alabama; with a notable mention of Kentucky.

    There were many countries and regions that influenced it though.

  4. As a Brit, I would love to say yes. But it started in the (southern) USA.

    R&R is actually fusion music, a blend of country and blues.

    We can perhaps claim a little credit, because country music comes from the English, Scots & Irish folk music that the early settlers brought to the new world. Blues & Jazz, of course was brought in by the African population.

    I often wonder how come the UK, and Ireland has produced so many fine rock acts, but no decent country artists. Historically, it should be the other way around!

  7. The Mississippi Delta is where Rock and Roll was born. Look at the Blues influence of Led Zep. The Fathers of the Blues were the Fathers of Rock and Roll. So no, the no matter how huge an influence the UK had on Rock, it was southern born and southern bred. Its made in America.

  8. Absolutely Rock 'n' Roll is American.  Over time, however, the blues influences were stripped from it, and it became Rock, which was a much more 'white' style.  There are pretty good arguments that Rock is more British than American.

    so we both shared influences!
