Question:

Can being overweight aggravate asthma?

I am 5'9", 14 years old at ~175lbs. I am about 20 to 30 pounds overweight.

Can asthma be aggravated (or even confused) with being overweight? I have never had an asthma "attack" (slight wheezing, takes moderate effort to breathe) when not doing strenuous activity. Is it possible that my extremely minor asthma is being aggravated by the extra weight?

Will dropping the weight result in me being able to do more strenuous activity, or even a complete lack of symptoms?

I can sprint a football field but it takes me ten to fifteen minutes to recover.

  1. Yes being overweight can lead to many health issues.  See for yourself here  http://www.weight-loss-surgery-or-weight...

To lose weight, you should try eating healthier foods, no eating late at night, and start a regular exercise program.  Of course, consult your doctor first and see what exercises are safe for your condition.

    Hope this helps.
