I'm just curious since there is a lane on the side of the road similar to that of the bike lanes on the streets. Is it ok to do that?

  2. If you mean riding a bicycle on the freeway, no you can't.  All entrance ramps have a sign stating that no pedestrians, bicycles, etc. are allowed on the freeway.

  3. No, bikes are not allowed on the freeways.

  4. most freeways are for motor vehicles only so not legally

  5. No!

There are signs before entering freeways stating "No unmotorized vehicles". You have to maintain a minimum speed limit  of 35 to 40 mph.

  6. you probably would get hit.

  7. On Interstates, no.

But on some parts of highways, especially if there is no easy side roads for them to take, it is legal for them to ride on the shoulder of the road.

Sometimes there are special side routes for the bikes in narrow or dangerous parts of the highway.

You can clearly see the signs letting you know when you have to get off and use the side roads.
