We use oil to heat our home , and I would like t o stop useing oil ad switch to biodiesel. I was just wondering if the biodiesel would go bad if it was sitting in a 100 gallon tank waiting to be used?

  1. There are good additives now available to keep the fuel fresh. It takes a couple onces to a tank. You only need it if the fuel will sit for months.

  2. Biodiesel wont go bad or lose any effectiveness as a fuel if stored.

  3. It should last as well as any other diesel fuel.

Neat biodiesel will begin to freeze at about 25' F and, if used or stored on site, will need to be kept in an area that will not get below that temperature. Most underground tanks are around 50°F and are not a problem.

  4. It won't go completely BAD, but it can lose octane value over time.  But you can add Soltron natural enzyme fuel additive to increase the life.

  5. Most Bio Diesel will last 6 months maybe even to a year if it is stored properly (cool dark areas). But be aware that unless it is WASTE vegetable biodiesel you are using then there are many hidden emissions. Consider what it takes to grow the crop (land and water) and the machinery used to harvest, process, and transport the material as well. So make sure to research your sources!

  6. biodiesel is pollutionless .. less smoke,..

less carbon monoxide emission.. increases the life of the engine... gives more mileage... cheaper fuel..  so it will not go bad to the engine or to the environment.. the only draw back is it will reduce the octane ...
